Police seek suspect after subway rider stabbed in face with broken bottle

Toronto police are trying to identify a suspect after a man was stabbed in the face with a broken bottle while riding the subway last weekend.

Police were called to Chester Subway Station on Sunday afternoon at around 1:08 p.m. for reports of an assault.

Investigators say the suspect stabbed a man in the face with a broken bottle, causing facial injuries.

Police did not say if the assault was random or if the suspect and victim were known to each other.

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

He’s described as five-foot-10, around 35-years-old with a medium build and light brown messy hair.

Later that same day a woman was slashed in the face at Spadina Subway Station.

In that case police have arrested three teens — two boys and girl. Police say the three were also involved in a separate incident where one of the suspect’s swung a machete at a police officer. That incident is now being probed by the SIU.

The trio face numerous weapons and assault charges.
