Zellers food truck menu announced: What’s coming to the ‘diner on wheels’

The results are in, and we now know what foods will be featured on the Zellers food truck menu when the “diner on wheels” hits the road in the spring.
Canadians were asked to vote in a poll to decide what would be included in this nostalgia-inspired menu, with the top five most popular foods set to make a comeback.
A Zellers spokesperson says the food trucks will celebrate the opening of Zellers within Hudson’s Bay stores and the launch of Zellers.ca, appearing over several days in the spring.
The five winners are the “Big Z Burger,” “Hot Chicken Sandwich,” “Grilled Cheese,” “Chicken Fingers,” and “Fries and Gravy.”
Zellers confirmed that the retro, in-store diner “isn’t possible” in a 10,000-square-foot space, noting that Zellers will mobilize a fleet of food trucks to greet customers at its first locations. If customers embrace the comeback, the retailer said the Zellers diner on wheels would head out for its cross-Canada debut.
Tour dates and locations are to be shared at a later date.
Where to expect the first Zellers locations in Canada
The first wave of the “store within a store” concept will pop up in seven provinces across the country. The sites are expected to open sometime in the spring, though an exact opening date has not been given.
Hudson’s Bay Co.(HBC), the parent company of Zellers, first announced the comeback last summer, and the first 25 locations will be opening up within Hudson’s Bay stores.
In the GTA, three new Zellers stores will open at Scarborough Town Centre in Toronto, Erin Mills in Mississauga, and Burlington Mall.
Six other locations are set to open in Ontario, including White Oaks Mall in London, Pen Centre Shopping Plaza in St. Catharines, Cambridge Centre in Cambridge, Rideau Centre in Ottawa, St. Laurent Center in Ottawa and Cataraqui Town Centre in Kingston.
