Mall employee seriously injured after stabbing near Jane and Finch

An employee at a North York mall is in hospital with serious injuries after he was stabbed on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a business at Yorkgate Mall on York Gate Boulevard, near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West, just after 1:30 p.m.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police say security at the business managed to place the suspect in custody until police arrived. There is no word on charges.

The mall remains open. It is not clear at which store the stabbing occurred but police are diverting people away from the No Frills.
