What’s open and closed in Toronto on Good Friday

The Easter Holiday weekend is upon us and that means a short work week for many GTA residents.

It’s expected to be a good weekend to get outside, with a rain-free forecast despite daytime high temperatures a little below seasonal.

The city is celebrating with the annual Beaches Easter Parade, as well as a Good Friday procession. Other events happening around the city this weekend can be found here.

Keep in mind, Good Friday is a public holiday and that means many businesses will not be open. Banks, libraries, post offices, and government services will all be closed on Friday.

In Toronto, almost all city attractions will remain open including the CN Tower, Toronto Zoo, Casa Loma and Ripley’s Aquarium.

Here is what else is open and closed in the city on Good Friday:

TRANSIT

GO Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday.

The TTC will be operate on a holiday schedule with most routes and subway service starting at 6 a.m.

GROCERY AND ALCOHOL

LCBO and Beer stores will be closed on Friday.

Most big chain grocery stores will be closed, but some select locations will be open on Good Friday. Check with your local grocer for hours of operation.

Rabba Fine Foods stores will be open.

Select Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall locations will also remain open. Check your local area for other pharmacy store hours.

ATTRACTIONS

  • CN Tower will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Hockey Hall of Fame will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Casa Loma is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The Art Gallery of Ontario will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Royal Ontario Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • The Aga Khan museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Ontario Science Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Toronto Zoo will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • High Park Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Riverdale Farm will also be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Little Canada will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Most movie theatres are open on Friday.

Toronto’s city-run golf courses opened for the season this week and will be open on Friday.

  • Bayview Village – closed

  • CF Toronto Eaton Centre – open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • CF Markville – open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m

  • Pacific Mall – open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Promenade Mall – open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Scarborough Town Centre – closed
  • Square One – closed
  • Toronto Premium Outlets – open 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Vaughan Mills – closed
  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre – closed
