Pedestrian fatally struck by GO train in East Gwillimbury
Trains on the Barrie GO line were temporarily delayed on Wednesday after a pedestrian was fatally struck during the morning commute.
York Regional Police received reports someone was hit by a train around 5:30 a.m. near Yonge Street and Holland Landing Road in East Gwillimbury.
Metrolinx confirmed a person was killed on the tracks north of East Gwillimbury GO station and said trains were stopped in the area for several hours for the investigations..

GO Transit said the investigation on the tracks was complete in a tweet sent at 9:09 a.m.
“We will be returning to our regularly scheduled service with some residual delays,” reads the tweet.
