Search warrant leads Durham police to over $1M in stolen vehicles

Stolen vehicles worth more than $1 million were seized after Durham Regional Police executed a search warrant in Whitby last Friday, investigators said in a release.

On Thursday, April 27, police found a stolen Lexus SUV in the Warren Road and Hopkins Street area of Whitby. Upon further investigation, police say more stolen vehicles were found.

The next day police executed a search warrant and say they found 11 additional stolen vehicles — 10 Lexus SUVs and one Range Rover.

Police say the vehicles were reported stolen from Durham, York, Halton, Toronto and Niagara.

No arrests have been made, but police note that the “investigation is continuing into the current ownership of the property” where the stolen vehicles were being stored.
