1 charged, other men wanted in violent Scarborough home invasion

Toronto police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old man in an armed home invasion carried out last summer in Scarborough.

Authorities were called to a residence in the Nelson Street and Cedar Brae Boulevard area on July 18, 2022, for reports of a robbery.

It’s alleged that three armed men forced their way into a residence, pointed a handgun at four women, and assaulted them. A man inside the home was also assaulted, police said, noting that all of the victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The three suspects demanded cash and valuables before fleeing the home with one of the victim’s cell phones.

Through the police investigation, authorities positively identified one of the alleged suspects. On May 10, 2023, police determined that the suspect was in custody on another matter.

Investigators attended the correctional facility where he was being held and placed him under arrest.

On Friday, the accused was identified as 25-year-old Stephan Ranleigh Neil Salmon. He’s been charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, three counts of forcible confinement and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Two other suspects remain wanted and have not been identified.
