Male motorcyclist dead in Markham crash

A male motorcyclist has died after being involved in a crash in Markham.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a single-vehicle collision around 12:45 a.m. on the eastbound ramp from Highway 407 to Highway 404 southbound.

A male motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead.

“The rider had lost control on that ramp, struck a sign and was seriously injured,” said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

A 33-year-old man from Brampton was involved in the collision, Sgt. Schmidt said.

It’s unclear what led to the crash.

The collision resulted in a lengthy closure in the area, with OPP confirming on Saturday morning that the Highway 407 Eastbound ramp at Highway 404 in Markham had reopened.
