Registration for Toronto summer rec programs opens Tuesday. What you need to know

It will be a busy Tuesday morning for parents in Etobicoke York, Toronto and East York.

The city confirmed registration for Toronto’s summer recreation programs starts Tuesday at 7 a.m. for programs that begin on July 4 and run until September 1. Registration tomorrow includes York South-Weston.

Sign-ups can be done online, over the phone or in-person starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow.

On Wednesday at 7 a.m., registration will open for North York and Scarborough residents.

“The city offers thousands of affordable summer recreation programs to help residents of all ages get active, stay healthy and enjoy a new hobby,” said Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie.

“Thank you to city staff who work hard to provide high-value programs such as swimming, dancing and music lessons and more.”

In a news release, the city noted it extended call centre customer service hours today from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. On registration days (June 6 and 7), clients can register by phone by calling 416-396-7378 from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

For in-person registration, five community centre locations will be open on the following dates from 7 a.m. to noon.

June 6:

  • Driftwood Community Recreation Centre
  • Masaryk-Cowan Community Recreation Centre
  • Wellesley Community Centre

June 7:

  • Centennial Recreation Centre
  • Dennis R. Timbrell Resource Centre

A spokesperson said the city offers approximately 6,900 registered courses this summer, with close to 55,000 spaces.

This includes arts and crafts, fitness, general interest, sports and swimming. Programs include drama, guitar, web design, outdoor walk fit, and more.

Registration for the 2023-2024 after-school recreation will begin on June 9. Programs for the 2023-2024 school year will run from September 5 to June 21, 2024.

Participants 60 and older receive a 50 per cent discount on the regular price of adult recreation programs. This excludes private, semi-private and small group lessons.
