Toronto cop accused of taking missing person’s debit card faces additional charge

A Toronto police constable arrested last year for allegedly taking a missing person’s debit card to make fraudulent purchases is facing an additional charge.

Toronto police confirmed that on February 17, 2022, a missing person investigation was started, and one of the officers assigned to the case — a 16-year veteran of the police force — took possession of the missing person’s belongings, including a luxury Tag Heuer watch.

It was alleged that the police officer gave the missing person’s debit card to another man, who used it to make a purchase at a store in Mississauga.

The investigation into the allegations also revealed that the police officer and the man fraudulently obtained vehicles.

The constable was identified as 48-year-old Boris Borissov of Toronto. He was arrested on April 11, 2022, and faced several charges, including theft, three counts of breaching trust and trafficking a credit card, among other offences.

At the time, Toronto police said the accused officer would be suspended without pay.

In an update from investigators, the police force said Const. Borissov turned himself in on Thursday. He’s facing a new charge for failing to comply with a release order.

That charge carries a maximum sentence of two years, which can be added to a sentence for other offences.

He appeared in court on Thursday morning.
