Seven people were taken to hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning following an accident at a construction site in North York on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to what appears to be a condo building under construction at Yonge Street and Cummer Avenue, near Finch Avenue East, just before 1:30 p.m.
The fire chief told CityNews a fan on a piece of machinery workers were using cut out causing the carbon monoxide levels to spike in the room and led to the workers becoming dizzy.
Paramedics initially said six people were taken to hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning but police later confirmed seven people were hospitalized.
One of the workers has serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other six have minor injuries.
Fire crews were on scene trying to pump the toxic air out of the room.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
