Suspected impaired driver found asleep in running vehicle with loaded gun: Police

A suspected impaired driver is facing more than a dozen charges after he was allegedly discovered asleep in a running vehicle with a loaded gun in Toronto’s east end.

Officers were called to the area of Broadview Avenue and Queen Street East around 8:20 a.m. on Monday after getting calls about an impaired driver.

Police allege a man was found asleep in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle and was arrested at the scene. Officers also found a loaded gun inside the vehicle.

Toronto resident Ahmed Hassan, 25, is facing 14 charges, including a variety of impaired and weapon offences.

He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on Tuesday morning.
