Teen dirt bike rider killed in head-on crash with car in Durham Region

A teenage boy is dead after the dirt bike he was riding crashed head-on with another vehicle near the Pickering-Uxbridge border on Wednesday night.

The collision happened around 9:30 p.m. on Uxbridge Pickering Townline Road near Sideline 28.

Police say a car was travelling eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a dirt bike that was travelling westbound. The 16-year-old boy riding the dirt bike was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.

The female driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene. Police say she is fully cooperating with the investigation.

There is no word if any charges will be laid.

The roads in the area have reopened.
