Thunderstorms move through Toronto and GTA, break in humidity on the way

Thunderstorms moved through southern Ontario and hit Toronto and much of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) on Thursday, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds.
In Toronto, the storm brought strong wind gusts of up to 90 km/h, nickel-sized hail, and locally heavy rainfall of 30 to 50 mm through Thursday evening.
Severe thunderstorm watches that were in place across the GTA, including Halton-Peel and York-Durham, have since ended.

There were tornado warnings issued for Barrie and surrounding areas. Those lifted around 7 p.m. on Thursday as the storm front quickly passed through.
Rainfall and severe thunderstorm warnings had been scattered across parts of cottage country, including Parry Sound-Muskoka, western Algonquin Park-Lake of Two Rivers, as well as Midland and Blue Mountains.
Toronto will get a break from the humidity on Friday, with a daytime high of 24 C. Cooler conditions will be felt on Friday evening as temperatures drop to a comfortable 22 C.
It will be pleasant in the city this weekend, as Toronto residents wake up to 18 C on Saturday morning. The current daytime high is 26 C with sunny skies. It will stay beautiful on Sunday, with a forecasted daytime high of 27 C and tons of sunshine.
