WATCH: SUV narrowly misses pedestrians on crowded downtown sidewalk

An SUV narrowly misses dozens of pedestrians while driving on a busy downtown Toronto sidewalk.

New video has emerged that appears to show a vehicle on a busy downtown sidewalk following an alleged road rage incident over the weekend.

In the footage posted to TikTok, a blue Ford SUV can be seen narrowly missing pedestrians on a crowded Front Street sidewalk before the driver turns south onto Lower Simcoe Street.

The driver goes on to use a bike lane to get by the southbound traffic, continuing underneath the railway bridge towards Bremner Boulevard. The vehicle can be seen weaving back into the southbound lane of Lower Simcoe to avoid a pair of cyclists in the bike lane.

A number of the pedestrians in the video can be heard yelling at the SUV to stop, with some appearing to briefly chase the vehicle on foot.

Toronto police responded to the same area around 7 p.m. Saturday, saying the occupants of a blue Ford Escape got into an altercation with another driver near Front and Lower Simcoe. The driver of the SUV allegedly smashed the hood of the other vehicle with a collapsible baton.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but police said the Ford Escape proceeded to drive through heavy traffic and onto the sidewalk, striking seven stopped cars in the process and nearly hitting pedestrians.

Police were able to stop the SUV near Bremner and Lower Simcoe. No serious injuries were reported.
