The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) says its website and mobile app are currently unavailable, but it’s not the result of a cybersecurity incident.
“The LCBO is experiencing an unplanned outage that is impacting several of our applications,” the LCBO told CityNews on Tuesday.
“We have identified the source of the issue (which is not related to cybersecurity), and our team is working to get our systems up and running as quickly as possible.”
The LCBO says in-store service is unaffected.
“We’re working to bring them back online, and thank you for your patience & understanding,” the LCBO tweeted.
Last January, the LCBO was targeted by hackers who embedded a malicious code on its website in an attempt to obtain customer information.
That incident led the LCBO to advise customers to monitor their credit card statements for suspicious transactions, saying customer names, email and mailing addresses, and credit card information could have been compromised.
