It is shaping up to be a soggy day on Tuesday with “significant rainfall” and possibly thunderstorms on the way for the GTA.
CityNews meteorologist Jill Taylor said up to 15 millimetres of rain is possible in Toronto as well as the north and east end of the GTA, while areas to the west of the GTA could get up to 20 millimetres.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Oakville, Burlington, Halton Hills, and Milton, saying “periods of rain, which may be heavy at times, are expected today along with a risk of thunderstorms.”
Other areas of southwestern Ontario could get the worst of it, with the potential for up to 50 millimetres of rain.
GO Transit is warning commuters to take caution in parking lots, stairwells, and on platforms.
The high for Tuesday is forecasted to reach a cooler 21 C but the heavy rain is expected to weaken tonight, making way for sunshine and warmer temperatures on Wednesday.
Rain is expected again on Thursday afternoon and evening, with a chance of thunderstorms.
