Police say 3 men broke into Mississauga temple, stealing money and damaging property

Peel regional police are investigating after several suspects broke into a temple in Mississauga, stealing money and others items.
It happened on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at around 12 p.m.
Police say three men broke into a Buddhist temple in the Cawthra Road and Silver Creek Boulevard area, stealing Canadian currency and other items.
In the process of the theft, police say the suspects caused damage to the property. They fled in a Black Hyundai Santa Fe (pictured below).
Police describe the suspects as:
- Suspect 1: Male, Middle-Eastern, 30-35 years old, five fee eight inches tall, wearing an orange/tan baseball hat, grey hooded jacket with a black horizontal stripe, grey sweat pants, and black running shoes with white soles.
- Suspect 2: Male, Middle-Eastern, 30-35 years old, five feet eight inches tall, wearing a black baseball hat, black face mask, black leather jacket, black pants, and black running shoes.
- Suspect 3: Male, Middle-Eastern, 30-35 years old, five foot 1o inches tall, wearing a black baseball cap, white face mask, black T-shirt with decal on left breast, black pants, and black shoes with white soles.
Meanwhile police in York Region are investigating a string of similar break-ins at various places of worship.
In one instance, police said two suspects asked for a blessing before stealing a safe containing cash from a Buddhist monastery in Whitchurch-Stouffville.
Police believe the suspects are responsible for several break-ins throughout the region. They remain at large.
It’s not yet clear if the Mississauga robbery is connected to the ones in York Region.
