Police arrest 48-year-old man in connection with stabbing in south Etobicoke

A 48-year-old man is in custody after someone was stabbed in south Etobicoke on Friday night.

Police say two people were in Bell Manor Park in the area of Park Lawn Road and Bayside Lane just after 10 p.m. when a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation. The suspect then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

On Saturday police arrested 48-year-old Byron Alvarez who is facing charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breach of a probation order.
