Welcome to the MUST-WATCH, home of the MUST-WATCH, can I interest you in the Top 10? Could the sequel to the Good Burger take the top spot? Or could it go to an animated comedy starring Adam Sandler? Perhaps a recut miniseries of a classic 2000s film from down under? You’ll have to keep reading to find out!

Wish

Where to watch: Cinemas

First things first, it’s time for a new Disney film!

Wish is a new animated film starring Ariana DeBose (from West Side Story) and Chris Pine (from Star Trek). She plays a young woman called Asha living in a Mediterranean kingdom ruled over by Pine’s character, King Magnifico. He has the ability to grant wishes to anyone who wishes upon a star, but only grants one a month. When Asha learns that he’s hoarding all these wishes, she makes her own wish which surprisingly brings down an actual star. The two team up to figure out how to grant everyone’s wish, and get the power-hungry King out of the Kingdom. This film also stars Alan Tudyk (from Firefly), Angelique Cabral (from Life in Pieces), and Ramy Youssef (from Ramy).

Leo

Next up, it’s time for an Adam Sandler comedy for the kids!

Leo is a new animated film starring the Sandman (from Uncut Gems, Punch-Drunk Love and Happy Gilmore) as a 74 year old tuatara. He’s a class pet who wants to escape when he realizes he’s getting older and potentially closer to death. Every student in the class has to take him home and take care of him for a weekend, and as he attempts to escape he realizes the students can understand him and he essentially becomes their therapist. This film also stars Bill Burr (from Old Dads), Jason Alexander (from Seinfeld), and Cecily Strong (from Saturday Night Live).

Genie

Now, it’s time to make some wishes!

Genie is a new film starring Paapa Essiedu (from I May Destroy You) as a guy living in New York City who has the worst day of his life shortly before Christmas. His wife leaves him, takes his kid, and he’s fired from his job. But on his way home he finds an old box, and when attempting to clean it off a genie comes out (played by Melissa McCarthy from the Little Mermaid). She reveals that instead of the usual 3, she can actually grant him unlimited wishes. The two decide to work together to figure out how to turn his life around. This film also stars Denée Benton (from the Gilded Age), Marc Maron (from Joker), and Alan Cumming (from Eyes Wide Shut).

Faraway Downs

Faraway Downs is a recut miniseries version of a 2008 film called Australia directed by Baz Luhrmann (the director behind Moulin Rouge, the Great Gatsby, and Elvis). Expanding the film into a six episode miniseries, the miniseries follows the same plot as the film. Nicole Kidman (from Big Little Lies and Eyes Wide Shut) plays an English woman who travels to the border of Western Australia and the Northern territory to try to convince her husband to sell their cattle station called Faraway Downs. She meets with a drover (played by Hugh Jackman from X-Men and Prisoners) to transport him there, only to learn her husband was killed before she arrived. She then attempts to run the cattle station on her own, and make sure that it stays in the family. This film also stars David Wenham (from 300), Ben Mendelsohn (from Bloodline), and Essie Davis (from the Babadook).

Good Burger 2

Last but certainly not least, would you like fries with that?

Good Burger 2 is a sequel to the 1997 film that is arguably the most popular thing to come from the Nickelodeon sketch show All That. Both films star Kenan Thompson (from Saturday Night Live) and Kel Mitchell (from Kenan & Kel). Kenan’s character has stopped working at the Good Burger, but finds himself returning after accidentally burning down his own home on a bad investment. Kel’s character has kept working there, and now owns the Good Burger. But representatives of the company MegaCorp come by hoping to buy this location, and when they do they fire everybody. Kenan and Kel have to figure out a way to keep everyone’s jobs, and keep the Good Burger open. This film also stars Alex R. Hibbert (from Moonlight), Lil Rey Howery (from Vacation Friends) and Jillian Bell (from Workaholics).
