2 girls, 14, among 3 charged with possession of loaded gun after Whitby traffic stop

Two 14-year-old girls and a 21-year-old man were arrested and held in custody after police say a loaded handgun was seized during a traffic stop in Whitby on Saturday.

Officers pulled the vehicle over in the Dundas Street West and Brock Street South area at around 12:55 a.m. on June 29.

“While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an overwhelming odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle,” a Durham Regional Police release states.

“During a search of the vehicle, drugs and a loaded handgun were found.”

Police allege they found cocaine, opioids and cannabis that were intended for sale.

All three occupants of the car were arrested without incident.

Parker Jason Amisson, 21, of Oshawa, a 14-year-old girl from Oshawa, and another 14-year-old girl from Pickering are all facing weapons and drug trafficking charges.

Investigators say all three were held in custody for a bail hearing.
