Man and woman dead after shooting is Oshawa, person in custody

Durham Regional Police officers say two people have died after a shooting in Oshawa on Saturday. A 30-year-old man was taken into custody.

Two people are dead and a man is in custody following a pair of shootings in Oshawa on Saturday.

Durham Regional Police officers said they were called to the area of Glenforest Street and Jane Avenue, near the Oshawa Executive Airport, at around 12:35 p.m.

After they arrived, they said they found a 42-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Investigators said paramedics tried to take the victim to hospital, but he died on the way.

Investigators said they received information that prompted officers to go to a home on Glenforest Street. After they went inside, a 42-year-old woman was found fatally shot inside.

Authorities said a 30-year-old man was found in the home and taken into custody.

While the person in custody is known to both victims, officers wouldn’t elaborate on the connection. They added the shootings weren’t classified as domestic-related.

Investigators didn’t release additional information about the circumstances.
