Toronto officials say all salting and snow clearing equipment is ready to go for the major snowfall set to hit the city. Afua Baah reports.

Environment Canada has lifted a winter weather travel advisory or Toronto and the GTA

Toronto and most of the GTA saw between 10 to 15 centimeters fall on Monday evening.

Freezing drizzle is anticipated Tuesday morning as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.

“Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly,” Environment Canada had said. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”

Temperatures are expected to hover near the freezing mark for the next several days and according to 680 NewsRadio meteorologist Carl Lam that should be enough to have a white Christmas – at least on the ground – for Wednesday.

According to the City of Toronto, there are 1,400 pieces of snow removal equipment to clear the roads and they continue to work overnight.
