An 81-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a dump truck in North York, police say.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Wilson Avenue and Collinson Boulevard near Bathurst Street around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Toronto police duty senior officer Brian Maslowski said the woman was walking through a crosswalk north on Wilson when she was hit by the truck that was turning right on eastbound Wilson.

“Citizens in the area immediately attempted first aid but unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries,” he said.

The driver of the dump truck remained at the scene.

The westbound Highway 401 off-ramp to Wilson is closed for the investigation, as well as Wilson between Bathurst and Laurentia Crescent.
