Man charged in Brampton shooting that injured a 16-year-old last year

A 30-year-old man is facing charges in connection to a shooting that injured a 16-year-old boy in June of last year.

Peel police responded to a call on Piane Avenue in the area of Drinkwater Road and Queen Street in the evening of June 2, 2024 for reports of a shooting.

It’s alleged an altercation occurred inside a vehicle involving the suspect and two young male victims. Shots were fired and the two victims fled on foot.

Officers were able to find the two victims nearby. One of the boys was unharmed but the other had been shot and was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

The boy survived his injuries.

An investigation revealed the suspect had fled the country to allegedly evade police shortly after the incident.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued and on March 23, 2025, Solomon Adu-Twum of Toronto was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder using a firearm.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Brampton. At the time of his arrest, he was on conditions for firearm-related offences.
