Child, 7, struck and killed by Hamilton transit bus

A seven-year-old child has died after being struck by a Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) bus on Thursday.
Police say the collision occurred in the area of Emerald and Wilson streets around 1:15 p.m.
The child was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The driver of the bus remained on scene and is cooperating.
In an update Friday, Hamilton Police said the investigation is ongoing but so far it appears to be a tragic accident.
“Based on witness statements and video gathered at the scene, investigators do not believe that the actions of the bus driver or the child’s caregiver contributed to this tragic incident,” the release states.
