Richard Kachkar, who’s accused of killing a Toronto police officer, made a brief court appearance Thursday and was remanded in custody.
Kachkar was charged with first-degree murder after 35-year-old Sgt. Ryan Russell was run down by a stolen snowplow on Jan. 12. He appeared via video link Thursday and his case has been put over to April 14.
The fatal incident happened after a snowplow in the Dundas and Parliament area was stolen and then driven through downtown streets for two hours.
Sgt. Russell was fatally struck while trying to stop the vehicle near Davenport and Avenue Roads.
Police managed to box the snowplow in on Keele Street near Humberside where Kachkar, 44, was shot and arrested.
