After falling behind 3-0 in their best of seven series against the Ottawa Senators, the Buffalo Sabres knew they had to come out of the gates fast and and get on the scoreboard Wednesday night.
They accomplished that feat after scoring just nine seconds into the game, and went on to win a hard fought battle, 3-2, to keep their dim but still glowing Stanley Cup hopes alive.
Maxim Afinogenov and Chris Drury scored the other goals for the Sabres.
Dean McAmmond and Peter Schaefer responded for the Sens, who tried desperately to rally and finish off their fiesty opponents, but couldn’t beat goalie Ryan Miller.
