Warm weekend finally here

We’ve waited a long time for it and on Saturday, spring finally arrived in Toronto.

Though the season officially changed on March 20, it was months before we saw the promised sun and warm temperatures.

In fact, Saturday’s good weather came after a week with only nine hours of sunshine.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of 26C in Toronto, dipping down to 18C near Lake Ontario. The UV index, meanwhile, is 8 – or “very high.” Environment Canada recommends we reduce time in the sun between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and seek shade, cover up, wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

As for Sunday, we’ll see a 60 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon with risk of a thunderstorm, a high of 22C and a low of 15C.

On Monday – a holiday for most – the mercury will soar to 25C, but we’ll also have to contend with a 40 per cent chance of showers.
