Wine, anyone?: 70 grocers to start selling it Oct. 28

The provincial government has announced the first grocers who will be allowed to sell both domestic and imported wine.
The selected grocers from across Ontario were chosen via a competitive bidding process held by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Queen’s Park said.
The sale of wine will begin in up to 70 grocery stores starting Oct. 28.
The province says the winning bidders reflect a mix of independent and large grocers. Below is a full list:
- Canex Canadian Forces Exchange System
- Coppa’s Fresh Market
- Farm Boy 2012 Inc.
- Fresh Market Foods
- Highland Farms Inc.
- Loblaws Inc.
- Longo Brothers Fruit Markets Inc.
- Metro Ontario Inc.
- Sobeys Capital Inc.
- Starsky’s Fine Foods Hamilton Inc.
- Uxbridge Foods Inc.
- Wal-mart Canada Corp.
- Yummy Market Inc.
Eventually, up to 450 grocery stores will be allowed to sell beer and cider and up to 300 will also be allowed to sell wine. Grocery stores started selling beer in December of 2015.
