Preparations are underway for Toronto’s New Year’s Eve celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square.
The event will be the official kick-off to the year-long celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday – TO Canada with Love!
City of Toronto programming supervisor Robert Kerr told 680 NEWS the family-friendly event will be packed with Canadian talent.
“It all starts at 7 o’clock with a great skating party on the rink at Nathan Phillips Square and we’ll have DJ Shub – one of the original members of A Tribe Called Red,” he said.
Jamaican/Canadian musician Exco Levi will pay tribute to the founders of reggae music through a modern twist of poetry and sound.
Mexican Canadian MC Boogat will be in French and Spanish.
The evening will be capped off with a performance by Juno Award winning band Walk Off The Earth.
The Burlington-based five-piece is expected to take the stage at 10:55 p.m.
