Highway 401 at Meadowvale reopens after crash

Several eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Meadowvale that were closed Tuesday morning because of a single-vehicle crash have reopened.
It appears the driver crashed into the bull-nose barrier around 7 a.m. He was trapped for several minutes as emergency crews worked to free him. The driver, believed to be in his 30s, has since been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Dave Woodford said the driver may have headed straight toward the barrier, as there were no skid marks on the ground.
The OPP were investigating.
