Burlington lift bridge closed indefinitely

After a mechanical malfunction Tuesday morning, officials have closed the Burlington lift bridge until further notice, the federal government says.
There were no injuries during the incident, which authorities say was caused due to a cable breaking on the auxiliary counterweight.
The bridge is closed to all vehicular and marine traffic while engineers work to repair the damage.
The OPP said earlier that Eastport Drive was closed.
