Stretch of Danforth Ave. reopens after suspicious substance probe

A stretch of Danforth Avenue reopened just over an hour after a suspicious substance was reported at a Canada Post outlet.

Police were called to the scene at 685 Danforth Ave., near Pape, around 8:30 a.m. Thursday after a brown substance came out of an envelope, Const. Wendy Drummond said. The discovery prompted a temporary evacuation of the building.

“We do have to take these situations seriously until we know what the substance is,” Drummond said.

The road reopened at 10:15 a.m. It’s not yet known what the substance was.
