Toronto police have released the name of a 34-year-old man they allege was shot and killed in a Scarborough apartment building Sunday evening.
On Sunday at around 6:30 p.m. police said they received a report that a man had been shot in an apartment building on Victoria Park near Sheppard Avenue East.
When police arrived, they said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the lobby of the building.
A second victim was discovered soon after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the ninth floor of the building.
Both victims were transported to a trauma centre, where one of the men died of his injuries, police said.
Police identified the deceased man as 34-year old Toronto resident Shawn Williams.
On Sunday, police said 30-year-old Marcus Nugent of Toronto surrendered to police. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
Investigators said they are asking for any witnesses to contact the police directly or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
