Boy, 2, dies after fall from balcony in Jane and Finch area

A two-year-old boy has died after falling from a balcony in the Jane and Finch area.
Officers were called to Driftwood Avenue and Yorkwoods Gate just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Inspector Darren Alldrit says a passerby noticed the child on the ground and called 9-1-1. It is unclear how long the child may have been lying on the ground.
Emergency crews rushed the child to hospital in life-threatening condition via an emergency run. He died of his injuries in hospital. The child’s mother is aware and at the hospital.
Police say it’s believed the boy fell from the 14th floor of the building.
Insp. Alldrit said so far the incident seems like an accident but they are working to determine how the boy fell.
Flowers, cards, and even a McDonald’s Happy Meal have been placed at the base of the apartment building in a vigil to honour the memory of the little boy.
