The family of a TTC worker who was tragically killed when he was struck by a train has released a statement.
Peter Pavlovski, 49, a subway track and tunnel foreman, was killed by a southbound subway work train around 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 14 at Yorkdale Station.
Pavlovski was a 22-year veteran with the Toronto Transit Service.
On Sept. 16, his family released the following statement:
“Our family is grieving the tragic and untimely death of our beloved Peter, together with countless others who had the privilege of knowing him. Peter was a dedicated father and a loving husband. He was a hard worker and generous to a fault. We appreciate the outpouring of grief from family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. We ask for your respect for our privacy in the difficult days ahead and for your continued prayers.”
On Friday, TTC CEO Andy Byford called Pavlovski a valued, respected and capable member of the TTC staff.
“On a terribly shocking day for the TTC, our condolences go out to Peter’s family and to his co-workers throughout the commission,” he said.
Mayor Ford also expressed his condolences to the Pavlovski family.
A fellow worker was also hit by the train and suffered a head injury. He has since been released from hospital.
The TTC is working with police and the Ministry of Labour to determine what caused the fatal accident.
