Not much is known about the human remains found Wednesday afternoon in a rural area of King Township.
The grim discovery was made near King and Weston Rds., and police and forensics experts have been on the scene ever since gathering evidence and clues.
“A King Township resident was walking, at which time they noticed what appeared to be human remains,” detailed York Regional Police Const. Michael Kassay.
“Police attended and have since contacted the coroner, who confirmed that the remains found on the property were human.”
The force’s Homicide Bureau has now become involved in the case, and the remains were taken to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for further study. So far, officials haven’t been able to determine the age, gender or race. It’s also unclear how long the remains have been there.
Call York Regional Police at 1-866-287-5025 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) if you have any information that might assist investigators.
