Poll: Most Canadians believe COVID third wave was preventable

A new poll reveals nearly twice as many Canadians believe the third wave of COVID-19 was preventable rather than inevitable.
The survey conducted by Angus Reid earlier this week reveals Ontarians were the most likely to believe the third wave could have been prevented with two-thirds now saying Premier Doug Ford is doing a poor job handling the pandemic.
Ontarians were also the most likely to pin the primary blame for the third wave on their provincial government rather than federal.
The polling was taken prior to Ford’s tearful apology on Thursday.
In his first public appearance since enacting controversial measures that have now rescinded, an emotional Ford apologized to Ontarians and expressed regret for recent enforcement measures put into place by his government.
The premier said his government responded too hastily with the new sweeping police measures in the face of troubling modelling that was presented last week.

Just 25 per cent of Albertan’s say Premier Jason Kenney is doing a good job while Manitoba’s Brian Pallister is at 28 per cent.
Nationally, the most popular option was that each level of government shares the blame equally.
45 per cent of Canadians believe the current restrictions they are under still don’t go far enough.
The opinion of Prime Minister Trudeau’s handling of the pandemic continues to slip, with 54 per cent now saying the PM is doing a bad job.
