Pirates Of The Caribbean Stars Win People’s Choice Awards

It was the year’s most successful film at the box office and on Tuesday the stars of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest picked up a fair share of booty at the 33rd annual People’s Choice Awards.
Johnny Depp was honoured for his role as the swashbuckling Jack Sparrow, winning favourite male star, while Depp and his co-star Keira Knightley were named best on-screen matchup.
“I know that I’ve said this before. But the fact that this award comes from the people, makes it all the more special,” he said.
“And thanks for keeping me employed, yeah? You’re the boss.”
Jennifer Aniston won best female star for her role in The Break-Up, but her words in accepting the award raised a few eyebrows.
Her exact words were “thank you for loving ‘The Break-Up.’ I did.”
It’s unclear whether she was referring to the movie or her subsequent real-life break-up with that film’s co-star Vince Vaughn.
Among other favourites honoured at the event, which fetes movies, music and television: Ellen DeGeneres, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Canadian band Nickelback, Justin Timberlake, Patrick Dempsey, and Eva Longoria.
“If it wasn’t for the people, I’d never win an award,” Longoria said after winning favourite female television star.
The Alberta band Nickelback won favourite group in one of the music categories. They’re riding high after an American Music Award win in November.
People’s Choice winners are picked through online balloting.
