Toronto After Dark Announces The Usual, Unusual Fare For 2008

The Toronto After Dark Film Festival (TAD) could be considered to be the anti-TIFF festival thanks to its share of non-mainstream horror/sci-fi/offbeat cult films, but it’s also one of the coolest festivals this city has to offer (outside of TIFF of course), thanks to the dedication of founder/director Adam Lopez.
Riding on the current Toronto festival frenzy, TAD announced last week the first batch of films running at this year’s fest. These include Repo! The Genetic Opera (a horror musical), Tokyo Gore Police (title says it all), Red (a revenge thriller based on Jack Ketchum’s novel), Let the Right One In (winner of Best Picture at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival), and Idiots & Angels (an animated fairytale directed by Bill Plympton). Full lineup and schedule will be released on September 24.
Check out a preview of TAD 2008 below.
TAD runs from October 17 – 24 at the Bloor Cinema. You can purchase a Festival VIP Pass for $99 in advance, or pick up individual tickets for $12 each starting September 24. Visit the official TAD site for more information.
