Police have laid additional charges against a Toronto man who’s been in custody since May 2 for allegedly possessing and making child pornography.
Chun Chung Geoffrey Tang, 36, was initially charged after police executed a search warrant at his home on Marcelline Crescent. Police allege they recovered several images depicting child sexual abuse, and that Tang actually produced some of the images.
After an extensive investigation cops also think they’ve found three alleged victims from the Toronto area, and have subsequently added two counts of sexual assault to Tang’s ever-expanding rap sheet.
Police also reveal that Tang had ongoing contact with children because he worked at Brightest Minds Video store near Kennedy and Finch since 1991 , and they are worried that there could be more victims who haven’t yet come forward.
At a Thursday morning press conference, police reminded parents to keep a close eye on their kids.
“Certainly as a parent, you know, it is your responsibility to make sure that you know what your children are doing and who is being in contact with them, and the reality is that you can never be too safe,” said Det. Cst. Janelle Blackadar.
On Thursday night, CityNews’ Andrea Piunno met with one of Tang’s former neighbours, who said she was originally quite fond of the man.
“He never gave me the impression that he was dangerous at that time,” recalls Poonam Jain. “He didn’t even approach the kids in any bad manner . he seemed like a very sweet person.”
Now, she’s not so sure. And police say they have plenty of reason for further doubt.
“To date we have located three (alleged) victims,” Det. Cst. Blackadar added.
