Als In Grey Cup After Win Over Eskimos

More than 38,000 fans in Olympic Stadium were on their feet Saturday as the Montreal Alouettes earned a spot in the Grey Cup with their 36-26 win over the Edmonton Eskimos.

Larry Taylor, who had only one return touchdown in the regular season, returned two punts for touchdowns – a CFL playoff record – in the East Division final.

Taylor ran one back 62 yards late in the first half. Then, in the fourth quarter, he scored with a 97-yard runback.

In the last 50 seconds of the game, Eskimo Tristan Jackson made a last-ditch attempt with a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown to bring his team to within 10 points. But in the end Edmonton couldn’t close the gap.

Montreal will be seeking its sixth Grey Cup win when it hosts the game on Nov. 23 against Calgary. The Stampeders advanced to the Grey Cup for the first time since 2001 with a 22-18 win over the B.C. Lions in Saturday’s West final.
