CN Tower Climb For Charity

It was a climb for a cause Saturday as thousands worked up a sweat in the 20th Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb.

The event, in addition to raising heart rates, raises money for the World Wildlife Fund. It’s the organization’s single biggest fundraiser of the year.

Thursday’s team challenge had 2, 000 participants, while 5, 000 people took part in Saturday’s event.

“The people at the top, they’re smiling, but they’re not hooting and hollering as much. A lot of the kids don’t even look tired when they get to the top…but even at the top there’s a great mood of accomplishment and celebration,” said WWF’s Josh Laughren.

The CN Tower has 1, 776 steps, and many of the people we spoke to were struggling in the homestretch.

“It’s painful!” said one man.

“I feel like I’m gonna die!” said another participant.

Despite all the moans and groans, the CN Tower Climb continues to get bigger every year. Since the event began, nearly 75, 000 have taken part.
