Toronto’s annual Labour Day parade took a turn for the political when a few uninvited mayoral candidates decided to take to the streets anyways.
The parade, which is organized by the Toronto and York Region Labour Council, only asked city councilor and mayoral hopeful Joe Pantalone to take part.
Sarah Thomson walked along with the parade on the sidewalk, but did not technically join in.
And Rocco Rossi said 793 local of the International Operating Engineers invited him to March with them.
Toronto and York Region Labour Council president John Cartwright said the other candidates were given the cold shoulder because they either supported selling Toronto Hydro or opening up public services to private bidders.
