As the vote tally inches closer to putting an end to the 2020 U.S. Election, president Donald Trump could have his sights on 2024.
Trump and those around him have had discussions about mounting a comeback run in 2024 should he not be re-elected and lose to Joe Biden, according to CNN’s Jim Acosta.
Acosta adds that it’s still unclear whether Trump would go through with it but that the subject has come up.
Under the U.S. Constitution, Trump could, theoretically, run again in 2024 or prepare one of his several children, such as Ivanka or Donald Sr., to take the leap.
The Trump campaign has been busy since the election kicked off on Nov. 3 having since filed separate lawsuits in Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania ordering that the vote count be halted, citing a fraudulent process.
So far, Georgia and Michigan have dismissed the lawsuits.
As of Thursday, Biden holds a narrow lead across Nevada and Arizona. He’s also mounted a sizeable comeback in Pennsylvania and Georgia as votes continue to be counted.
