George Takei wants costumed trekkies, theatregoers to pledge ‘Allegiance’ for Halloween

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Lt. Sulu is inviting Klingons, Vulcans and any Starfleet officers for a night out at the theatre.

George Takei is encouraging sci-fi fans to “trek or treat” in “Star Trek” costume for the Halloween night performance of his new Broadway show, “Allegiance.”

Takei will participate in an audience conversation after the Saturday 8 p.m. show and choose a costumed fan to take a picture with.

“Allegiance,” based on Takei’s childhood, follows a Japanese-American family forced to live in a U.S. internment camp.

The show also stars Tony winner Lea Salonga and Telly Leung.

Salonga, whose 9-year-old daughter plans to dress as Lt. Uhura, says she is looking forward to seeing “Trek” characters out in the audience.

“Allegiance” is currently in previews at the Longacre Theatre and opens Nov. 8.
