TORONTO, Ont. – The 2015 Pan Am Games launched an official logo Wednesday, which is already being referred to as the visual face of the games.
The logo contains a red and green cartoon figure that appears to be kicking a blue ball, as well as the numbers 20 and 15 written across it in white.
CEO Ian Troop said the logo will be a large part of the 2015 games for sponsors, many of whom have already expressed interest in the sporting event.
A videotaped statement showed Prime Minister Stephen Harper discussing the importance of hosting the games in Toronto, saying it will reaffirm the city’s position as a lead municipality of the Americas.
He also said new sports infrastructure across the Greater Toronto Area will be a large part of the games’ legacy.
10,000 athletes fro 42 countries will be competing. According to Troop, the Pan Am games will be bigger than the winter Olympics and will run across southern Ontario from Niagara Falls to Oshawa as a result.
