Elderly woman forced to reveal prosthetic breast before boarding flight; Travellers disgusted

CALGARY, Alta. – Travellers at Calgary International Airport are outraged and disgusted after hearing about an elderly breast cancer survivor forced by security screeners to show them her gel prosthesis in public.

Elizabeth Strecker, 82, said she will never fly again following the humiliating incident, which took place on her way home to B.C.

“I think that a lot of this gets carried overboard and we have a bit of security theatre going on,” said one man before boarding his plane at the airport. “Unfortunately some people get victimized in the process.”

Even American passengers said this incident was just too much.

“I feel more secure with some of the security measures that have been going on, but that seems a little ridiculous,” said Andy.

“I’m all in favour of whatever it takes to keep the passengers safe, and that includes the body scans – I’m not opposed to that,” Harry told 680News. “But I also think there are situations that they have to use some discretion.”

Frequent flyer Dave, however, did not fault security.

“Quite frankly I feel what they’re doing is what they should be doing. I feel protected as a passenger,” he told 680News.

But, “it’s unfortunate that they don’t always have the right courtesy.”
