Got a problem? Best to sleep on it, research shows

It turns out “sleeping on it” is indeed the best way to solve a problem.

Researchers at the University of Massachusetts taught two groups of college students a gambling game — then brought them back 12 hours later to play it.

Of the group that got a full night’s sleep, 80 per cent figured out the trick of the game.

That compares to just 40 per cent of those that didn’t sleep.

The researchers suggest the brain may process what it’s learned while you rest.
